Access desktop while playing a game

Hello everyone,

I'm using Civilization V (tablet mode) without keyboard, and I'm wondering if it is possible to put game in background and access desktop.

If you go into setting (graphics/video) there should be an option to change it which could be called display mode normally it set to full change it to you get the right one.

Not to sure if it is on this game or not don't have it myself.
