Activate OEM win8 key on Windows 10 without upgrading

I recently tried updating my old win 8 pc hp sleekbook to win 10 through the usual udate and upgrade but failed to do so as thw windows update wont download. Hence i decided to do a clean install and installed win 10 iso thru media creation tool. The issue now is that the newly installed win 10 doesnt accept the old win 8 OEM KEY. is there any work around to this its too much trouble to download win 8 iso and then follow the upgrade path to win 10.

As far as I'm aware the upgrade offer is for Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 8.1. Windows 8 is not eligible, which is why your Windows 8 key isn't accepted. What you need to do is to perform a clean Windows 8 install, activate it with your key and install all the updates.
