I though it would be a good idea to create a map of us Windows Central members. We had one of these going at one of the automotive enthusiast forum sites I used to frequent, so I did a quick search and didn't find one for us here at Windows Central. I know a good percentage of users here are from abroad. I think it would be interesting (and fun!) to see where everyone is from, and it would give us a good idea of where Windows Phone users are around the world.

Of course for privacy reasons, you don't have to give us your exact address or anything. Just put a marker/pin on the map of your home town or city, and lets see where everyone is...

I also realize many members here are "anti-Google". I couldn't find any way to make one with HERE maps where we could share/collaborate on it, so Google it is! So if for whatever reason you don't want to participate because it's a Google map, just move on. No need to post about your Google hatred or why you don't/won't use Google services here. (there are plenty of other threads for that) This is a Google map.

I'll start it off...

Instructions: Right click and pin your general location. Then click "Share", and copy the link. Post the link here!

I'll periodically post an updated screenshot of the map with all the pins... (provided people participate)

Yeah, this is a pretty neat feature, but due to privacy reasons I just indicated a location where I might be found on a cloudy day and when I'm in the mood for "wood pushing".

lol yeah, don't give any personal details. Just a pin of the general area you are on the world map.

I don't see your pin... did you make one?

Oh, I thought you were referring to the Windows Central Member Map as it is found in the upper right corner of the forums page under "Social", or in this link.

At any rate, I've just added my pin now.

Oh, there's already a map? I swear I search for this and didn't find it.. :(

I guess I'll delete this thread then.. (or have it deleted I mean)

Yeah, but I think it lacks publicity. Who knows, your thread/map might gain more publicity than the main members map. Let's leave it available for everyone and see what happens.

Google? Why can't we do this on Bing Maps? Let me guess... it's not a feature supported by the way-out-of-date maps Bing uses!

People might not know it's there. I certainly didn't see it.
