All these exclusives are getting REALLY annoying!

I agree that it sux. I wanted a 920, woops, T-Mobile will not get. Well I will get a Red 8x....wtf, T-mobile is only getting blue or piss yellow :( - May rethink my decision to switch to WP. No way in ****, moving to att and under contract anyway.

I have yet to understand why the PureView camera is ONLY on the 920... I really like the 810 (which is why I am trying to sell the 8X I got at the launch event). If they 810 had PureView, then it would that much more epic.

But what about when those people see the advertising and become aware of the product, but don't want to switch carriers to get it? If the device was spread to their carrier, then the advertising would be effective.

The Lumia 800/900 were advertised everywhere (certainly in the UK), and were available everywhere. The sales went up a bit, but nothing major, because generally the WP7 devices were hidden in the back of a shop, and the sales people were still trying to sell iPhones and Androids instead.

Even without the carrier business model, different carriers use different cellular technology.

In the US yes, in Europe and most of the world a phone will work basically anywhere. In Europe you can buy the 920/8X you desire and use it on any carrier you want. In the US if your carrier doesnt carry it, you cant get it, especially with CDMA phones. Thats a key reason US carriers have such a hold on people, along with the attitude that anything more than $199 is overpriced. :dry

Oh dear. Nokia UK is tweeting that the 920 is also available on Orange and T Mobile .... EE says it isn't. EE only they say.

Orange stores and T Mobile stores have been rebranded to EE. T Monile and Orange customers also see EE as their network signal on phones.

What a strange carry on.

I read through a bunch of Nokia Uk's replies on twitter. So many people now NOT buying a 920.

Expansys UK say they are trying to source sim free unlocked phones from Europe now and may not receive some until towards the end of November.

I never planned to get a 920 so it doesn't affect me but I kinda feel sorry for those who did want it on their network of choice and in the colour of their choice.

If you make a phone of many colours, make the colours available to all.

I popped into phones 4 u. Their wp8 display is all HTC up top, large pictures of several HTC's not just wp8 ones either, the one x is there too. Nokia and the other wp8 phones they are selling are on the bottom part of the display, smaller pictures. There was a picture of the display in the Blog posts, zoom in and see for yourself.

Wow! Does anyone need more evidence that Nokia has really screwed up this 920 launch? What a disaster!

The religious devotion to a carrier is what is getting annoying to me. Contrary to their commercials, I get coverage pretty much everywhere with any of the major players. Consistent with all reports, the customer service level of all of the carriers pretty much sucks. The moral is I'll go where the stuff I want is. I'm already with AT&T and I want the Lumia 920, so I'm staying with AT&T. If what I wanted was at Verizon, I have no loyalty to a signal provider who takes my money every month, so I'd switch. Simple.

It's not about a "religious devotion" to my carrier, it's about the fact that in the area I live, my service is better with T-Mobile and my plan is way cheaper than what I'd get on AT&T/Verizon.

Carrier's don't make decisions FOR (i.e. in the interest of) consumers. They make decisions in the interest of profits and reducing operational costs to the lowest possible level, while continually striving to increase their sphere of influence through any legal means possible. As long as you are paying for their services, whatever else you might think really doesn't matter to them.

Which is exactly why they do this; money. That's also why I prefer not to go somewhere and pay more and get worse service (in my area) just so that I can get a particular device (and help them further this goal). But that's for me personally. I get that some people don't care about switching carriers and they can go ahead and keep doing that.

Exclusives have been happening since FOREVER. Certain Nokias on sprint, certain Nokias on Verizon, the Razr was only on AT&T at first, T-Mobile were the only carriers with sidekicks, etc. This is not new

**** I wanted the Nokia E71 BAD when I was on Sprint, but it was only for AT&T

Blackberry 9000 was an AT&T exclusive too.

My friendly carrier rep at my local T-Mo store tells me they'll have black as well. I am going this weekend to check out the 8X handset that one of the carrier reps has and will let you know more about what I learn.

I agree but for myself I really don't have that choice as I work for Bell and get a 35% employee discount from them.
