And the Lumia device on Verizon is unveiled...

Ugly may be harsh, but this is boring. Truly hope Verizon sees this as a start, not an answer. WP needs better efforts at the top for it to grow.

IF Big Red releases the 8X (posters are correct, there is no confirmation yet) that is a step in the right direction as would the ATIV just to add choice.

Heaven help us if this and the 8S is all that is given to Verizon. I may stay off the forums for a while just to protect the children....

You do know that HTC itself specifically stated that Verizon was getting the 8x. It was during their presser. Also, T Mobile just had their announcement a couple days ago so I don't see the big to do about Verizon being quiet. Verizon doesn't say squat about the iphones until apple has their event. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they didn't say anything until Microsofts event. What's the point, to get .006% of windows phones 4% total marketshare excited? Honestly, a lot of you guys and galls act like wp8 is some big time ordeal when really it's barely a blip on the map.

I don't think Verizon will brand this Nokia handset as the Lumia 822. I think it will be the "Verizon-Exclusive Droid Lumia 822 XLS II LTE 4G by Nokia." :D

I know you're joking but I bet one of those shady salespeople can get away with selling Lumias by just telling the potential customers: "Check out the new Droid Lumia!" ;)

Ok now it's offically ugly (well IMO)

I agree. This definitely isn't the phone to show my buddy who just got the iPhone 5 how awesome Windows Phone 8 is. The funny thing is that I got him totally interested in the 920 by showing him some videos online. He only got the iPhone 5 because he's so heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem plus he figured he could break even if he decided to switch when WP8 came out. He flat out told me he was disappointed in what iOS6 had to offer.

While I do believe that function should be more important than form, I will definitely pass on the 822.

yuck. This sucks.

Unless Verizon gets a Lumia 9xx phone that is a perfect mirror of the 920, I'll never upgrade, and in fact may go to the iPhone. :straight:

CES 2012 for the Verizon L920 variant is a possibility.

Still, it means that Nokia is going to give up on the holiday season for Verizon customers. Time will tell whether was it wise or a fail.
