Android opens onedrive files in browser but can't access tabs (Excel)

SOLVED-I have found an acceptable solution. After I installed the OneDrive app, it will open the link (onedrive.x.x) and give me an option to edit in Excel. I'm happy with that.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with Android 8.0. I find that if I open a link from the browser 1drv.ms, it opens in Android version of Excel. If I open a onedrive.*.* file it opens in the browser. The problem is that I can't access any of the tabs in the spreadsheet. This is true for both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. There *is* a button to display tabs but I can't get it to work. Again, if I open up a 1drv.ms file (same file, just different reference), then it opens in Excel and I can access all the tabs and data.

Any idea how to change this? I don't have a Onedrive app on my phone. Maybe I should. Excel does have a section for defaults, but there is nothing there about onedrive links, and I can't edit the links that Excel does show in default app section.
