Annoying keyboard

I have been very patient with my Surface Pro 4 keyboard, but have reached the end of my tether.
Why does the cursor jump all over the place while typing?
I am a good typist but consistently (in every document, even in what I have typed so far) the cursor will jump up or down the page - into the middle of an already typed word and disrupt the whole document. Sometimes it takes minutes to repair.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? What to do?

there are 2 possible other causes. a possibly oversensitive trackpad. or you are getting phantom presses on your touchscreen which shifts the focus of the cursor.

in the old laptop days, I would disable the trackpad (since I mostly use a trackball anyway).
