Any experience with managing the virtual keyboard when programming?

Most of the software I use (MS) can tell when the physical keyboard is attached, and does not pop=up the virtual keyboard. However there is one software which seems to be unaware of how to handle this, and every time a new dialog box opens, or a new draw request is made, the virtual keyboard pops up,and covers 80% of the screen!

Intuition says that there must be some testable function - Is there areal keyboard attached to the Surface Pro 3 (this could be the type cover,or a USB connected keyboard)? Is anyone aware of this - and further, is there any Programming Guide to the Internals of the Surface hardware?

Thanks,

Tony

You learn something new every day.I didn't realize that Win10 had a virtual/on-screen keyboard lurking in the background. Unfortunately my Surface is using Win 8.something or other.

Do you know how long the OSK has been around?

Hi Tony @tfurnivall. Windows 8 also has an on-screen keyboard too.

I am not sure what programming language you are using, but if it is C#, this may help:
