Has anyone bought a phone from Amazon Wireless and renewed their contract through them? I am looking at getting me and my wife each a Focus but am not looking to lose our unlimited data we have on our lines currently. Advice?

Their deals are mainly on phones not plans the plans are the exact same as what the carrier has so if you go into an ATT store to renew your contract and they say that would force you off of your data plan then Amazon is going to say the same thing. The benefit of purchasing through them is they offer a greater discount on new (subsidized) devices. The only way to keep your (I'm assuming) grandfathered plan is to buy devices unsubsidized.

Well AT&T lets you keep your data plans unlimited even if you upgrade. I have not bought through Amazon before though so I was wondering if anyone has. Since this thread has been moved to no-mans land though I doubt I will actually get the answers I was looking for. Oh well.

Be careful getting a phone elsewhere other than the carrier. Some places have a clause in there where you have to pay them money if you cancel you contract. So not only are you giving the arrier 350, you're giving Amazon money too. If you don't plan on cancelling then I wouldn't worry about it...

I read that on Amazon's website. They charge you $250 if you cancel on top of the $350 that AT&T would charge you if you cancelled. That would make a phone that is only worth $500 NIB cost you $600 if your were to cancel. I am sure that AT&T would get a cut of that money too, that is probably how Amazon is able to give such good deals.

Amazon won't touch a thing if your upgrading your account if you already have a pre existing Data Plan. Unless of course its switching from iPhone to a general data plan or small things like that. I've bought at least 2 phones from them, maybe more.

I am not sure about the charge if you cancel it. I do remember speaking to a rep about getting charged if i cancel the data plan on my fathers account (i used one of his upgrades on one of the phones). They said once i have activated the phone through his number i could swap sim cards and remove the data plan from his phone.
If that helps you in any way. If your ever in doubt go chat with a rep, usually they are really friendly and helpful.
