Apollo being tested on a Lumia 800

Its actully very simple. Nobody is asking them to reveal proprietary details of their operating system, just to let us know if the new phones people are buying on 2 year contracts will be compatible with the new OS they are preparing to launch.

Do you think it's possible that they just don't know or haven't made a decision yet?

Is it possible they don't want to promise it when there is a chance it's not going to work on every phone, or that carriers will get in the way?

Perhaps they are still working out exactly which phones/carriers are going to be able to support this and which aren't.

It's also very possible that Microsoft already knows for sure that none of the current phones will be getting Apollo and that's why they are keeping quiet.

No one really knows. Any of those are possible.

Personally I'm not joining the FUD sh*tshow over it. Who cares? Worst case scenario I have to use a phone I already like for two years with just minor updates. Am I really going to get apoplectic about it? No. Life's too short.

If Apollo is amazing and I can't have it on my Lumia and I can't live without it because I'm so shallow that not having the latest phone OS will make me crazy, then screw it, I'll buy a new phone before my contract expires.

If not then in two years there will be lots of nice choices for me, there should be a major redesign of the iPhone by then too and who knows, that may be so incredibly great that I want nothing to do with Windows Phone.

The point is, I have no idea and I have no control over it so it's a waste of energy to panic about it, so I won't.

panic obsess all those overreactions at this point are well... pointless and wastefull!

My personal feeling is the only company really invested enough in WP to write drivers for and push Apollo is Nokia. They are also very customer focused. I could see them not wanting to leave anyone behind.

I could not see HTC or Samsung caring enough to bring older devices up to current software levels.

So it wouldn't surprise me to see all Nokia phones get updated but everyone else has to get new hardware to get Apollo.
