Apps not Closed

I recently noticed that I had applications that were open in the background that I thought were closed. I click the back button until it wont go back any further, and then hold the back button to open the multi-tasking window. I am finding apps open that shouldn't be, like calendar. Anybody seen this with your 8.1 device?

It's standard behaviour for 8.1. Programs like Calender, Battery Saver and Facebook will be the most likely ones to stay 'in the background'. Just swipe down to close from multitasking view....

Thanks. Thought that was the case, but had never seen it before. I typically try to close everything so that there isn't extra battery drain.
