Apps on microSD card in 640 XL inaccessible after travelling to a different country

Hi,

I'm currently travelling, and after inserting a second SIM card (or maybe it was just the change in region), the microSD card apps aren't working at all. Opening them results with them reverting back to the Start screen without actually opening the app. I can see the files I have (photos, music, documents, etc.) using File Explorer within the phone, and can also access on my laptop them using the USB data cable. Groove Music still plays all the music on the microSD card, Photos still shows all the photos in the microSD card, but the apps simply won't work.

I did a hard reset a few weeks ago, then reinstalled all the apps, and everything was working fine till I travelled here.

At first I thought maybe while inserting the second SIM I accidentally displaced the microSD card, but that doesn't seem to be the case either. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I occasionally have some glitches with apps from SD card being listed as "unavailable" after I reboot the phone, then I get SD error and I get a prompt which asks me if I would like Windows 10 Mobile to scan the SD card. I click yes and after a few minutes (5-10) the apps load up again.

Perhaps you should try rebooting. This is a known issue on 640 XL and the problem is probably not in SD card as I have changed the previous Toshiba SD card with another class 10 SD card and I still get that error sometimes.

Thanks for the reply! I've tried rebooting numerous times, and I used to get the scan prompt loads of times a few months ago, but that resolved by itself and didn't pop up this time. Is there a way to manually scan the card on the phone? If not, I suppose I'll just have to find myself a PC and scan it there.

I'd really rather not format the card, it's too much of a hassle after just factory resetting the phone (backed up everything on the microSD), but it looks like I may just have to. :(

P.S. The files on the card can be read just fine; I'm listening to music, watching videos, accessing documents from the external storage. It's just the apps that refuse to cooperate. I'd attach a screenshot, but not sure how to.
