Are emotions larger in 8.1?

Obviously, not a huge issue but I have a problem with emoticons with WP8. They're so tiny. My gf has an Iphone, and they're much larger and easier to see. When they're displayed in conversation on WP, they need to be larger. You shouldn't have to look closely to see they're detail and what not.

I'm guessing they thought nothing of this and didn't change them, but I hope I'm wrong.

I haven't seen the emotions for WP8.1 however I doubt they have increase the size.
