Are files moved to OneDrive from PC only in the Cloud?

I have Windows 10.

If I move a file that was saved to my PC's hard-drive, and place it into the OneDrive folder on that same PC, is that file still using space in my hard-drive as well as being uploaded to OneDrive?

Basically, I'm asking if I get to keep my file locally and on OneDrive's cloud, or do I loose my local version. I don't trust the cloud without a backup.

Yes of course, the file will be stored in both places, unless you disable the offline copy of that folder in the onedrive settings, after moving the file. I think that you should trust the cloud if your account is provided with a good password. Even if you work for mistake on the same file on different devices you will find two renamed copies. Bye.
