Are the Number of Lumia 950 Reviews at AT&T Indicative of Something?

I plan to buy the unlocked Lumia 950, but every now and then I check the reviews on AT&T's web site.

I noticed that the Lumia 950 already has 145 reviews.

The LG G4 which came out several months ago (summer I think) only has 75 reviews.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has 102 reviews.

I used to think that the number of reviews is one indication of the number of units being sold, but I can't believe that the Lumia 950 is selling more than the other two.

Does this mean that fans are actively posting reviews or what?

We are a different kind of user

We tend to be very outspoken and passionate.so we post more

I would guess that the high number of posts is due to a high number of WP superfans trying to sway the overall negative view of Windows Mobile to a more positive view. But I'm assuming that most of the reviews at AT&T are positive. I haven't visited the site.

I left a review on ATT's site for the 950. It was very positive. I wrote one because I generally feel that's it's a very good device and deserved to be praised. I did the same thing for my HTC M8.

I'm not a super fan by the way, this is my first windows phone.

I left a very positive review as well on the ATT site.....first time Windows user here - was a Blackberry user for 10+ years.

I seriously doubt that is the reason in the least. It could simply be 145 people are happy.

While this is not indicative of it outselling the two, it nevertheless is a good sign nonetheless.

155 reviews when I checked just now. 4.6 out of 5 rating.

Certainly at odds with the FUD we have been seeing around these parts.

One reason may be users can only submit a review once. On the forums, blogs, news sites, etc... Users may post their opinion multiple times.

In the interest of balance, all three of the 1 star reviews:

And the top three 5 Star reviews (note there are 123 such):

It's funny I was thinking the same thing when I saw the reviews, it's good to see.
It's a good way for us to help the future of the platform, I'm thinking of picking up a 950 or XL once the prices drop.
I don't need the face unlock or continuum so the price as is isn't worth it to me.

Re: Lumia 950 having great reviews -AT&T

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like good Lumias seem to have a good amount of positive reviews on AT&T, Walmart and elsewhere. I love seeing this, it's beautiful.

The 928 and the Icon had fantastic reviews on Verizon's website before they pulled them. Flagship Lumias get great reviews.

Re: Lumia 950 having great reviews -AT&T

I posted a 4 star review. I really like my phone!

I know it's the first time I ever spent $600 (plus $99 for Complete coverage) for a phone, and am keeping it; so, YES, I like it THAT much and I sent a very positive review to Microsoft, where I purchased my ATT phone.

I think it just reflects a very active WP user base. You see this in two other areas as well: App Store reviews and Windows Central. WP apps get a surprisingly large number of reviews compared to Apple and Android apps. And compare the number of comments on WC articles and forums to those on iMore; the level of activity on WC is several times higher.

Just shows how concerned the WP community is about their ecosystem and wanting it to succeed

I agree with you.
I was really trying to point out that, most of the time, I see more reviews/comments left by people upset with their purchase or who are facing issues with their device, rather than people who are happy. But, I have no hard evidence of this whatsoever. Ha ha ha
