Absolutely! It's my current most wanted piece of tech... but I'm hoping all the clueless reviewers who gave this negative press, clueless perpetuators of negative press (or maybe a 2nd Gen) will eventually drive that price of that dGPU i5 256 down to about $1000.

I am ordering two for my wife and I. We have our surface 3s for travel and general computing. The books will be for the "heavy lifting". Eventhough our S3s are doing fine now.

I was planing, but change my plans once i saw it doesn't have a USB type-c. don't you think that for this super flagship computer that microsoft compared with apple macbook pro you should have at least the latest USB port specially when the macbook have the thunderbolt port?

yes, when the price goes down and I will want their best one as will be using it for video editing and davinci resolve on location. Already got a beefy laptop but this is thin and extremely portable...

I was planning to get one in the future (was thinking I'd wait until the SB2 comes out), but my third SP3 died, and the replacement that they gave me at the Microsoft Store was defective (after spending six hours driving between home and the MS Store), so I was able to talk them into a VERY sweet deal on the Surface Book i7 / 16GB / 1TB with Power Base, that won't launch until 11/28. I've had it since Monday, and MAN, is it SWEET!

My wife got me one for my 40th birthday! Man this thing is nice. Once you past the hinge, holy crap, what a sexy beast.
I ended up getting the i5/256GB/dgpu model with a surface dock. We got the Surface Book on the Boxing Day sale Best Buy had the last week or so. Originally I was getting the model with out the dgpu, which was on sale for 1999, I decided, for an extra 149 to teh the gpu model. Plus Best Buy had a $100 off a Surface Dock if you bought the Book, so got taht for $150.

Yes the i7 performance base 16GB version, when it eventually arrives in the UK . I specced this up as I want to use Photoshop CC in 3D, and I don't think the Surface pro line can handle that, according to Adobe's minimum GPU requirements. I needed minimum of 520 MB on board DDR5 which the SB & (i7) provide.. I also read the Main GPU will use RAM memory when required, so went for the 16 GB version as Photoshop is a memory hog-just in case!! :devil:

Update!!! As I am still waiting for the PB i7 version in the UK AND Microsoft put up their prices, I have ordered a Wacom mobile studio pro 16 i7 instead! Looks much superior to the SB in many ways, we shall see. At least the Wacom has 2 years warranty and Wacoms legendary bad customer service. Hope I get a good one!

I need to replace my 5 year old Acer laptop (the screen cracked when my cat decided he wanted a flat surface to sleep on but it ended up sliding to the floor with him). One of the features that I like about the Surface book is the 16GB.

Keen to pick up the SB PB... hanging on for U.K. release ... there something about waitin until 20/4 for EU releases that suggests to me there's more than just an SB release... new rechargeable pen? Releasedat the same time as the surface pro 5 ???

gorgeous device, but not planning on getting it - price notwithstanding. for me, from what I've seen in the real world with those who do have it, using the screen detached as a tablet would be useless for me due to a really short battery life ( a couple of hours it seems).

if msft can address this so battery life as a tablet is still respectable, it will be on my short list. for now, the pro line fits my needs better.

I definitly 'want" to get one. Most likely the used market because the model I want is $3300 in Canada. A little too pricy for somethign i don't actually need.

Hi everybody,
I'm from Italy, a country where Surface Book isn't sold officially.
After 1 year of saving money I've decided to buy this great piece of machine.
Well, I was lucky because Amazon.it is actually selling them imported from Germany.
They are sold and shipped by Amazon, not by third party Marketplace vendor. So I've 2 years of warranty, because we have 1 year from the manufacturer and the second from seller (in this case Amazon).
It costed me 1850,00€ for the i5, 8gb, 256SSD with dGPU of course (940MX). The performance base is too expensive and it's hard to find.
I've purchased a warranty extension by Amazon Protect for 3 more years of protection. It's an expensive device which I can fix by myself after warranty. So spending a bit more for protecting my investment it's the minimum in my opinion.

I hope my machine wouldn't have too many issues.
Are there any time period or batches of SB production units which are known to be defective?
Or it's totally random?

Can't wait to use it. I'll use it for pro photography, video editing, some games, browsing, watching movies.
