those are features, not requirements of the OS and not reasons to skip a full upgrade. I upgraded my PC to Windows 8, it warned me I didn't have Secureboot but BFD, it installed anyways.

They're optional for Windows 8, but they're requirements for Windows RT and Windows Phone 8.

Didn't they say the 7.8 update would be coming from Microsoft directly, so I don't think we'll be seeing a lag in time, it's just up to Microsoft to finalize what they're going to do with 7.8... assuming they don't forget or just stopped caring up us 900 users.

In regards to Windows Phone 8 being ported to existing hardware, Microsoft senior marketing manager stated, " it's not impossible to port WP8 on older devices, but the cost of doing that would be very high and the benefit very little." So it isn't because of hardware or anything like that, it's the fact that Microsoft is lazy to throw some money at it (even though they have billions)... I could understand some features requiring dual core, but small things like emoticons, being able to replace the refresh button with other buttons, Urbanspoon, etc, I think those can work well just with a single core. What hurts the most is now the WP7 ecosystem is on a timer, when will MS shut that off like they did with WM6.x, we can't get apps that obviously don't require a dual core to really function, etc. I'm still a bit bitter about it, but there isn't anything that can be done. It's great though that Nokia has really stepped up and gave us a lot of features, such as Nokia Xpress (that browser that compresses data, and is very customizable), Playto (DLNA support), Camera Extras (they even said an update would be available with cinemagraphy), and others.
