AT&T 830 upgrade status no longer listed

Ask yourself, is there any Carrier App or service I can not live without. (AT&T nav or Uverse integration or HD voice) If the answer is no, they have nothing critical, get a Factory Unlocked version.
Actually, for apps that isn't even an issue (WiFi/HD calling yes it is). Once you put your carrier SIM in that phone, it should be able to download those carrier-specific apps.

Really? That's cool. I know T-Mo blocks any of their Apps on unbranded. I know AT&T was blocking SoftCard on non-branded and just assumed they blocked all their Apps. My trust in carriers and their forthrightness is severely compromised...

and rightfully so!

All channels offer canned responses, so don't bother with Twitbook.

not all.... i have had companies reply directly to attempt to get issues resolved.... at&t is NOT one of those companies.

Woops, I was referring to ATT specifically in that second part.

Support forums, Twitter, probably calling up Customer Waiting will yield the same ol' same ol'

yeah, at&t support is anything but useful. think there;s a better chance of me winning the lottery before their support actually helps with something.

Even if you don't buy a lottery ticket, your chances will still be better! As much as I hate to admit it. I may have to go back to Verizon (who's customer service also sucks) because Verizon's coverage is better. My experience with AT&T has been less than satisfactory.

Well, for good or ill, it is a done deal. Sold the 830 today. Used the PayPal at B&H to order a Blu Win HD LTE in orange. Guaranteed to get 10 and already has Update 2 waiting for OTA when I unbox it. SD 410 SoC to boot. No Lumia Firmware, but my experience with the 1st gen Win HD has me salivating to get this in and start setting it up. I'll rest my 1520.3 for a bit and drive the Blu. I migt even look into going Dual SIM full time and split Voice and Data. I can use a dedicated Data SIM for my 2520.

Good Luck to all RM-983 owners. I'm out.

Congrats, or you coward, whichever applies.

I'm actually interested to hear more about the Blu, so do tell.

I'll try my best to get a review in once I've driven it. My 1st gen Win HD review is here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/blu-win-hd/316528-blu-win-hd-user-reviews.html#post3020707

It's funny. I found myself without a backup phone (other than a 520 I was fiddling with and considered as an mp3 player). I got the Win HD. Then I wanted 2 x DT-910 charging stands in a bundle with a 928. So I bought the bundle and sold the Blu. Then I got the 830 and sold the 928 after taking a LOT of pics for a shootout thread. But I've always missed that Blu Win HD. Now I'll get the improved version. Pretty sure I'll drive it hard for a couple weeks and write something up.

Truth be known, I just bought an RM-985. I am still weighing the 830 vs the 930. If I stay with the 830, it'll be the 985.

Which is smart. If I'd had RM-985 I would not be wandering away from it.

My Primary is never branded if I can help it. :D

I would say stick with it till the newer devices are released. One of the best phones out there, gets updates and runs very well on US GSM.

I was just doing some stuff with the 930 (currently for sale), and boy is it a nice phone.

But, I do like the 830 as well, and the 985 will be great since it's not ATT dependent. My current thought is stick with that, but we'll see.

Some of these phones I buy wholesale from vague descriptions, and when they show up, they are either diamonds or coal. I'm anxious to see what the 985 will be. If it's anything north of coal, I'll likely keep it as the daily.

Depends upon what you paid, and if you like it as it is. You can put Win 10 on it anytime you want. We just can't get update 2. Not sure if that will ever roll out or not for this phone, like it has for the RM-985 variants.

It's a great phone as is.

Gosh darn it! I just bought all my accessories for this phone...

What a waste...

No seriously though.I wait 3 months to find a MINT condition ATT 830 on swappa...

Then...
I go through a darn 2 hours of customer support to get working with TMobile. ATT had to mess up on unlocking the device and claiming it was still on contract.....

And then waiting another week for a new backcover, nano sim, and case....

DARN AT&T

YOU HAVE WASTED SO MUCH OF MY TIME

not really. tier 1 customer support generic answer. now the link in your post ( http://soc.att.com/1Mqtlli ) goes to an error page, so I couldn't check from there, but googling the title of the page brings up info about the random reset update MS pushed out not long ago. Proof? it mentions:

On June 23, 2015, a new critical license certificate update was released by Microsoft. The update will be delivered Over-The-Air (OTA) via Wi-Fi connection, or AT&T network. File size:<100KB

and

NOTE: Software updates are not cumulative and do not include prior software updates. Customers who failed to update their device with any prior released software updates will first be required to update with all preceding software updates before updating to the latest software update. If the update is downloaded via cellular, data charges will apply.

so it sounds as if the rep just did a search and found that.
