AT&T Lumia 830 Downloading W10

Can anyone who has updated pinche in as to the screen tearing and blinking for the 830. Did this update fix it? This update seems to bump the firmware version and am contemplating to reset and update.

I think it's laughable how AT&T pushed the official update to Windows 10 on the 640, 1520, & 830 but left us 640 XL users in the dust. Thank goodness for the insider program. I guess there aren't enough of us 640 XL customers to justify it in their minds.

Did MS or ATT announce the 640xl is not getting it? I'm about to buy one tomorrow to replace my bricked 830, that could change my mind.

you can try using windows device recovery tool to restore the original OS
or do a hard reset using the hard reset combination keys

Hard reset combo keys does nothing. Still caught in a boot loop.

I can't use windows device recovery tool because I'm in a vacation house and the windows xp computer here won't install the tool.

Just updated my AT&T 830 to W10 and I mostly like it. But does this mean that I will get another update on Tuesday to the anniversary version?

if you got the update without using insider update, then yes, from tomorrow you should get a major update. In fact, you will be getting updates every month. Welcome to the new system for OS updates for mobile

Are there still issues with Bluetooth in W10M? I tried to re-pair my Plantronics Voyager Legend this morning and I get the "Couldn't Connect" problem. It worked perfectly before the update.

No official word from AT&T. When you download the upgrade advisor app, it says that the 640 XL is eligible for Windows 10 but they're still working with the mobile provider. I got tired of waiting seeing my wife's 640 was running windows 10. So I bypassed Threshold and went straight for Redstone. If you sign up for the release ring on the windows insider, you'll get 14393.5. Don't let that hold you back from pulling the trigger. It is very stable build with excellent battery life, especially on the XL.

I updated my Release Preview L830 from build 10586.494 to build 14393.5 a few days ago. Not too bad so far but still having some ongoing Cortana issues, screen flickering, and now an occasional random reboot. I'm seeing an older firmware version (02179.00000.15455.24047) on my phone.

How do I get this newer firmware? Is it available on WDRT or only OTA?

I plan to hard reset and do a fresh install sometime later this week but would love to get the latest firmware. I'll probably roll back to 8.1 (again!) using WDRT and try to get the latest firmware, then use the Upgrade Advisor App to get back to latest W10 builds. Then a final hard reset without a restore backup.

After being bricked since Thursday night when it tried to install an update, my 830 magically started working tonight. No idea why. But it shows 02179.00000.15455.24000.

Am I behind the times? I was running Release Preview ring on the insider program. Did I not end up where I'm supposed to be?

I have one of these RM983's on T-Mobile got the update over the weekend. While I prefer the Win 8.x versions of Sports/Weather/News/Money and prefer the older music app to Groove everything has been solid thus far.

One caveat, the 830 is now taking slightly longer to get an LTE signal when I go from someplace without any coverage to a place with coverage. Its only a few seconds more but kind of annoying.

If it isn't too much a hassle, you could get a replacement SIM?

Just upgraded my 830 last night. Initially had screen flashing issues but then the phone did a second update (pretty major one, went through the same long process like the initial install) and I haven't seen a flash since. However, one thing that is very minor but kinda annoying... since the update to 10 my three buttons at the bottom of my screen no longer give that vibration feedback when I use them. Is that gone forever or is that something that I can turn back on?

That's a good question. My BT in the car doesn't seem to be working right since the update. I haven't taken the time yet to see if re-pairing it solves the problem.

Overall, my update seems a bit glitchy on the 830. Even after the initial use of an app when it asks all the intro questions again ("Can we use our location?" "here's what's new in ______ .", etc.), the apps all seem to open more slowly. 1 out of 10 times it crashes and I'm looking at my start screen again. Pre-W10-Update, I don't think I ever had an app crash.

Worse still since the update is using the internet. From the time I click a link to the page loading is 5-6 seconds!! Same when hitting the back button to return to a previously loaded page.

Worst of all is that my touch screen seems less sensitive. Multiple taps to open apps or links. Sometimes, trying to click a link highlights the text instead of activating the link.

I'll give it a couple weeks, but right now, I'm sorely tempted to go back to 8.1.

EDIT to add: running 16201.54051

Try: All Settings > Extras > Touch > Vibrate when I tap the navigation keys. (at the bottom).

Strange that yours doesn't. Mine turned itself on with the update.

Well, there definitely seems to be BT problems; although, mine are different.

After updating to W10m, my car BT was still paired, but couldn't find any songs/albums/etc. But, if I select music straight from my phone, it plays through the BT connection just fine. Deleted the devices from each other, successfully went the the pairing progress again, and it still only works from phone to stereo. I can't search for music from the stereo. 😕 It worked fine on 8.1.

The screen tearing and blinking issues have vanished completely after I upgraded to 14393.5. I guess the Anniversary Update did the trick for me. :)

Really happy to know so. The blinking issue is really annoying. What about battery? It is discharging really fast in 10586.494
