Automatic brightness or lowest level?

I read to save some energy one should set the screen of L930 to automatic brightness; but is the lowest level in the screen brightness settings not as good as automatic or even better in terms of saving some energy?

I do not think so because if it is dark(ish) then my 930 screen is on "auto" less bright then on "low".

Even when you set the slider in the brightness settings all the way to the left?

I always have my brightness on High, I've not noticed significant battery savings running under automatic or low.
