Battery draining on standby?

I went to sleep with a battery percentage of 90. To be sure, this time I turned off wi-fi, location, made sure there are no running apps, and tried to remove all possible background apps. I wake up 9 hours later and see my battery dropped to 80%. I guess that's not so bad, i'm still able to use my phone for at least a full day. But why? What's eating up battery, then?

To be sure, I'll be turning off my phone tonight. However, based on experience, the battery still goes down. I'm just not sure by how much.

As long as the device is connected to the cellular network, there will be battery drain. It's constantly looking for signal from the towers.

Because it's turned on, all electronic uses energy, the network antenna, the processor, etc. Unless ur phone is completely turned off, but still after years even if ur battery is not used it will discharge eventually.

But 10% in 9 hours isn't alarming, right? What's the normal discharge rate on standby?
