Best Photo editing software?

I've been using the Adobe Photoshop for the past 6 years and everything is going great so far. But, that whole Creative Cloud service is turning up to be really expensive for me specially when I do not use the full Adobe Suite. For this reason, I wanted to move on to some other photo editing software which can replace Photoshop totally and at the same time is cheap in comparision to Adobe. Any suggestions?

You can check out the ACDsee products. I've been using ACDsee photo manager daily since early 2000 when I moved to full digital. I don't use the pro editing suite (I use the Adobe stuff you're trying to get away from) but it is a lot less money then Adobe suite. The best part is, you can download the software and try it out for 30 days before being forced to purchase it.
