Hey guys..
I never did introduce myself, so I figured out I should.

My name is Mario, as you can figure out from my username. I live in a little town in the hearth of Serbia.
Currently, I'm 18 years old.

I got to love WP as I was always a big fan of Nokia. From my early days I had a cellphone. My first one was the Nokia 3200.
It was amazing for it's time, ofcourse.

After that I had a couple of phones (all Nokias), and I bought my last non WP around 2010.
It was the Nokia N8. I was amazed by the 12 Mpx camera which was one of the absolute best at it's time.
The little guy is still working. It's a Nokia after all.

As time passed, as Symbian (which the N8 was running) slowly died, and as I realised what was going on, Nokia was switching slowly to Windows Phone.
I did not embrace it at first, wanting to get more support for Symbian, but once it officially died, I knew it was time to move on.

Now, I didn't want to pick an Android phone, and being unique was always important for me - so logically, I started looking into Windows Phones.
I joined this community, and a few others and watched carefully what was going on.

I was sold once the famous Nokia EOS was leaked and finally anounced. Today that device is known as Nokia Lumia 1020.
Being a big fan of camera phones, I had to get it. The only problem was the money, which at that time I didn't have (I was a kid).
As time passed, I followed further info about Microsoft, Windows Phone and Nokia. Soon after that, the famous Bandid leaks started appearing.
A 6'' beast was unbelieveable at that time. I remember making cardboard models and laughing at how big it was.
When the device got announced (Nokia Dubai event, IIRC) I was in a tough situation.
Eather pick a big and powerful phone with a decent camera, or a decent phone with a powerful camera.
I chose the former. Started saving money, and in May 2014, I got it. I ordered it from a website, and got it delivered in a few days.
Hong Kong SIM-Free model, price 420?.
And there you have it - that's how I got my white Lumia 1520.

I'm pretty happy with it, I'm not gonna lie. Best phone I ever had. It will hold up just fine for the next few years. And when the time comes to change it, I'll probably chose another Windows device.

Hi Mario,

I've already seen you posting on the forums.

I'm glad you did an introduction. You certainly had some classic Nokia devices.

I'm glad you like your 1520.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Yeah, I've been around for quite some time. Not too much active on the forum these days, though.

Not being too active isn't a problem :) eventually your daily tasks and life need attention as well, but we appreciate any amount of time users can give :)

Mario, thanks a lot for your sharing.

Yes, this community is so special to us. I think most people here don't just like Nokia/WP, but also love it. As I remember, my first phone with SIM card was a Nokia, too.

Yes, being unique is a compelling reason for using WP. If phone is your clothes, then why do you want to wear the same clothes as many others on the street? Why don't you choose your own clothes but to follow the trend?

Whether WP is popular is not the most important. I just hope WP can make some profits and is a sustainable brand - so that we can keep using it for years and years regardless of its popularity.

Hey, Mario! Welcome to Windows Central!

Your first phone (Nokia 3200) reminded me of one of my earlier phones, the Nokia 3120. I even remember how I stubbornly chose the 3120 over the 3220 which had a camera... so I eventually had to buy a camera that goes with the 3120 - fixed focus, less than 1MP in resolution, no flash - those were indeed the days. Compare that with the monsters that we have right now!

How are you enjoying your L1520 so far?

It's great. Here's some history on that.

Got it May 2014, and the screen shattered around July. Lucky me, right?
It was working (only the glass was broken) untill late October, or something like that, and then one day it just stopped receiving touch input.
It layed half-dead on my desk for a couple of months since the repair was pretty pricey (when I asked in July, the price was ~250€ for a brand new original part).
I waited until it it got a little cheaper, but I still had to pay 160€.

It's good now. Not like new ofc, but it's ok. I mostly have 2 problems, the first one every L1520 has -the touch and scroll issue. The other one appeared once I repaired my device. My Windows key doesn't work right - most of the times (like 90% of the time) when I press the Windows key, the phone acts as if I pressed the back key. The other 2 work as intended. It's frustrating, but I kinda got used to it.

Anyways the only thing I don't like is the camera. First, you can't tell it to take full 16 Mpx photos directly (you can only make 5+16 and other BS), and second, it's not a flagship camera. I want something that really rocks the house. The N8 had 1/1.8 shutter size, and L1520 has 1/2.5. But ehh, I'll just wait till something worth buying shows up. And I know it will happen soon.

Hey Mario! The 3200 was one of my first phones too! Built like a literal brick, too!
