BLU Win HD LTE-why do I have a number 1 next to my message icon?

BLU Win HD LTE

Probably being really thick as me and technology don't mix. Got a number 1 showing next to phone and message icon, does this mean I have a missed call and message or does it mean sim 1?

if its a small one off to the side, it denotes SIM.

If its a big one, as large as the icon, then it means you have a new, whatever it is. Missed call or text message.

You can eliminate that if you run only one SIM.
You can merge the both message icons into a single icon and both Phone Icons into one icon.
Go into Phone 1, click the menu in the bottom right, click link tiles.
Go into Messaging 1, click the menu in the bottom right, click link tiles.

This will clean up everything except the status bar at the top. This will still show no sim for sim 2 if there is no sim
