Bookmarks problem

I just started using Edge. Have Windows 10 with the anniversary update, with the update of today 23 of August. Tried importing the bookmarks from chrome and IE and after doing it they don't show up in the bookmarks toolbar.
Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a solution?

not sure if this affects but have you signed in on edge? Using your ms account?

Yes, I have. Tried to chose the setting: show only icons and all but nothing shows that. It's a pity since edge is much smoother than chrome on my budget windows 10 tablet

Thanks but that's exactly what I've been trying to do, to no avail.
