Box appears when i click on something.

When I click on something on a web page, a black box appears with either the web address or the word "JavaScript" in it. What is this, & can it be disabled? I am using a Microsoft Surface Go, Windows 10 Home in S Mode, touchscreen only, no Type Cover. Usually it's not a problem, but occasionally the box obscures a hyperlink.

Can you give a screenshot of this? What website are you on when it appears?

It's not doing it right now, so no screenshot at this time. It doesn't seem to be specific to any particular website. For example, yesterday, when I clicked on "Forums" on the main menu, a black box appeared with "forums.windowscentral.com" in it, then it disappeared within a few seconds.
