I was wondering if anyone thought the built in camera works better than the Procam? For me the pictures are better with the built in app but the video is better with Procam. Regarding the video, built in is only recording mono. Procan is using all 4 mics. Any input in this?

Don't know about the 1520, but on my 920, I noticed that the built in camera has better algorithms, but as you said not fully utilizing the hardware capabilities like the OIS.
One thing I also noticed on my 920 is that pictures look better on the a big screen, better a full HD big screen.

I always thought my 920 shoots very bad pictures, but as soon as you look at them on a computer the results is way different. Although I'm not sure if this is applicable on the 1520 as its screen is more than amazing.

On Nokia camera, turn on grid, point the grid on a reference point ( a sign or an edge), click to focus, now jiggle the phone, and watch the magic of OIS, this isn't applicable in the default app.
