C8N/Media Cable/Zune

so the media cable arrived today and i am trying to figure out how it works. the Zune AV cables come out of the headphone jack so i basically cant listen to video while it is playing....i tried doing it through the usb connector but the redfly wouldnt detect it or even charge the zune. is there something imn missing?
