Camera lag with default camera app

Hi,

I recently moved from my Lumia 930 to a 950XL, and am noticing an issue with the camera.

Basically, after the first shot or couple of shots, there's a delay of a few seconds between the camera thing subsequent photos.
I've switched between local/SD for image storage which made no difference.

Am running the latest firmware update, along with build 14393.86

This issue was occurring for me with previous builds also, so I don't think it's related to the Insider builds.

Could this be related to having 'living images' turned on? I had that feature enabled on my 930 and never had this issue.

Living Images may be part of it...

Are you saving new photos and videos to SD card?

Change that to internal storage. Seems to be the go to workaround for camera lag.

Regardless of photo type 1st pic does not click when trigger pressed but after a long delay resulting a pic without original view or subjects.
Also shutter sound is changed to a stupid noise!

Ok, it turns out when I'd set the camera appto use of phone storage, the setting did not save.

Now switched it back again, and the camera is so much better! No lag, spot on.

So yeah, if you have issues with camera lag, make sure you're saving photos and videos to local storage.
Even with a class10 UHS1 sd card, it's no good.
