Camera photos color quality?

I don't know whether it's an inherent to the phone or a calibration problem, but one thing I noticed every time I take a photo - sure on my phone it looks vivid and well contrasted, but once I transfer it to my computer (calibration - last time I checked, which is just before writing this, seems ok) it looks faded out, especially if it's a photo outdoors. I usually end up sending the photo I took to my old iPod (or my computer) just to see if the color looks okay, and edit the contrast or whatever from there before uploading. Is it just me? Any way I can fix this?
