So I've now had my 1020 for a couple weeks and I've loved the phone. Its my 4th Lumia (820, 920, 928) and I'm easily feeling at home with the phone. Except for the camera that is. I realize that 41mp is a lot and the processor is having trouble catching up with picture taking, especially in the pro cam app. I have tried taking pictures with the stock camera for better speed sacrificing options. On auto, the pro cam pictures are significantly better than the auto in the stock app. Also worth noting I only take pics in 5mp mode as it also makes the pictures process faster. Also, what resolution is the stock camera taking pictures at? Ois seems to not work as well in the stock app.

No it's pnly 5MP. My mistake. It took 8 on my 920.

You can tell by downloading an app or checking in Photoshop and multiplying the resolution width and length to get the MP 've becount.

I've been using Fhotoroom camera for portraits and so far very happy. It's much crisper than the Nokia camera.
Here is a sample:

However the Nokia Cam in certain settings (mainly scenery and night) is still superior. Pro Cam is awesome for black and whites.

I just wish that the current API allowed for 3rd party cameras to shoot in full resolution.

Thanks! I've set the default camera app as my camera button app so its faster and I'll keep the pro cam as the "full resolution" option for when I need it. 5mp is good enough for sending texts and sharing after all.
