Can I use a gmail/yahoo email account to install APPS on my 520?

I dont have a hotmail account and dont want one, so why cant i use the other
accounts?

You can basically use whatever email you want. But this email will be linked to a MS account.

Or in other words without an MS account you can not download apps or updates.

It has to be a Microsoft Account. You need one of these to be the primary account on the phone, which is attached to your billing/app downloads.

It's simple on as to why you need a MS account... The apps run from MS app store and hence you need an MS account to access the same.. It's the same as to why the apple store needs an apple id and the google store needs a google id...
