Can I use the Nokia 521 in China?

I've just recently purchased a Nokia Lumia 521 and have a trip to China within the next two months. I was just wondering if I would be able to get Data to work once in China. I understand that the phone will need to be unlocked but I was just wondering if the phone has the correct radio to handle 3g. My understanding is 3g in China is on UMTS 2100mhz and while this phone has AWS 1700/2100 support does that mean I should be able get UMTS 2100 support as well?

Hey Jinx,

From what I assume, it would have to be under the UMTS signal...1700/2100 are the frequencies for 3G in the US. 1700 sends data, 2100 receives if I'm not mistaken...

I could be mistaken, but I'd contact the carrier you plan to use, and double check. Better safe than sorry.

All else fails, perhaps you can get a 520? Since that has the UMTS 2100 base band frequency.
