Can my laptop update?

So I'm not sure if I should be posting this in the FAQ or not, but I'm going to go ahead and post a new thread anyway. I'm wondering if my Acer Extensa 5230e can update to Windows 10. This is a super low end laptop my dad bought for me in 2009, since then we've upgraded both the RAm and the CPU, so it's not horrible anymore. I think it has the specs, but I'm not sure about drivers and such. I should probably mention that I never got the Windows icon in the task bar and that I don't have Admin access to the computer.

Acer's website says I don't have the right drivers and they won't support an upgrade to W10. Does this mean it's totally impossible or that W10 might not run smoothly? Also, how would I get the update if I never get the "Get Windows 10" app?

You can download Windows 10 from this link from Microsoft. Windows 10

You will need administrator access to install Windows, however.

Not having the right drivers depends. If the computer can't talk to the display, that's a big issue, but otherwise the quirks may be tolerable.
I had a Windows Vista laptop that had drivers for some Intel Management thing that refused to function on 8.x, so Windows would complain about that. I still don't know what effect that had, so I guess it worked out fine.

On the other hand, I saw an HP laptop stuck on 1024x768 resolution a couple years ago because the guy didn't install the necessary things.

I think you'll find it to be more... character quirks than computer breaking issues, but it really depends on whats on the line.
