Can we disable the second SIM slot on dual SIM phones?

I don't know if I worded the question correctly, but I will get a Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM LTE from my carrier, but I don't have any plans of using it with two SIMs. Apparently, the carrier, SMART Communications, only offer the dual SIM version, so I have no choice but to get it. I noticed that there will be two icons in the status bar for the signal; can we disable the second one there, or will it always appear as having no connectivity (provided that I won't place any SIM on the second slot)?

Its going to remain there as far as I know, just don't use the second slot. Just a slight cosmetic thing.

At least you get to brag to some people that your phone has 100% more SIM slot.
