Can you Hide skype information?

I have a friend that has an old phone number on his Skype account. It just got me in trouble when I accidentally gave it out as a reference for a new job and someone who is not my friend picked up.

I could pester him until he actually changes it. But it isn't likely to happen.

I'd like to keep Skype integration, but I would like to hide, or delete the number he has on his Skype account. Is there any way to do this?

As much as I believe he should update his information, I also agree that I am the only one that has this problem. It's a pretty big downside to automatic integration.

I installed the new skype and edited his contact. The problem is that his old phone was not there to remove. So I have effectively added his correct number a second time to the contact on my phone.

I just removed his contact from Skype and will add it again if I need to later. But it still hasn't updated on my phone, even after a restart. This is a real pain in the neck.
