Can you remove the AT&T logo from the battery cover of the 640?

Wanting to see if I can remove the logo from the AT&T 640 battery cover. I like the black matte finish over the glossy white on my T-Mobile variant. Only thing I do not like is the AT&T logo. I know, first world problems. I didn't know if using nail polish remover, a sugar cube, or something similar would remove the logo without damaging the cover.

I don't want to advise you wrongly but you can also buy a black battery cover, if you want to be on the safe side.

When the AT&T Nexus 6 was released it was soon discovered that the AT&T logo was easily removed with no visible marks left. I'm sure you could find more about it on YouTube. One method as I recall was to simply rub it off with a plastic spoon. However, I have no idea if the material is the same on the Lumia 640.

I suppose you could try it, and if it doesn't work or if it leaves marks, just buy a blank battery cover.

I will try a plastic fork or spoon. Plenty of them around the office break room. If it works, sweet. If it doesn't then no harm done. The flat black just looks better to me than the glossy white in both form and function.

Plastic fork doesn't seem to be doing anything. I didn't want to scratch against the cover too hard. Nail polish remover seems like it could work, maybe a coin as well.

Damn, I knew I was forgetting something. Oh well. I sold off my AT&T Lumia 640's already and didn't keep any of the battery covers. If I manage to come across a battery cover from someone locally (doubtful) I will try the magic eraser idea. Wouldn't hurt to try.

My 635 battery cover is matte black, except for the shiny black spot where the logo was until I tried acetone (nail polish remover). You've been warned.

On an old 520, it came off smooth and clean just using my fingernail and polishing with the end of my thumb, no chemicals needed.

Anyone get a method that works reliably yet besides purchasing one? I'd love to remove both the AT&T and Microsoft logos, then take a shiny aluminum sticker and cut it to 4 squares to create a nice mirror-effect Microsoft logo on the back.

I tried the magic eraser since I had one on hand. Didn't faze the logos, however, by removing the cover and using nice even strokes, I did even out the texture of the surface to make it look new again.

Short of sanding and painting, I'm not sure if there is a way. Alcohol is also a no go. Don't want to go the acetone route after the reported "smooth spot."

This is why I'm glad that T-Mo didn't bastardize the 640 and kept it plain white. Now I would have preferred color options at the time of purchase, but I will take what I can get since T-Mo really isn't selling it anymore. They will activate them, and gleefully take your money of course.

I just want a matte (not glossy) cyan cover for the phone. I'm not worried about the MS logo but I certainly don't want a carrier logo. Damn you AT&T/Cricket for ruining what would have been an nice cover.
