Cannot install Zune on my laptop so how am I supposed to update my phone?? I wouldn't have bought it

I am on windows vista and it just will not install Zune, have tried everything so am unable to update my phone and seem to be getting reminders everyday

I have an idea. One the .exe installation file, right click, properties, compatibility, select windows XP service pack 3. Save, exit. Then try to install again. If that doesn't work, let me know.

Also, check the box to run as administrator and click "apply". Just clicking "OK" does not save the changes. If that fails, press F8 at boot-up and disable digital signature enforcement. Vista was quirky that way but it was fast.

There isn't a service pack 3 on vista only goes up to a 2, will try what you suggested but not holding much hope!!

Yes. Go to the folder where you have the installation file. Right click on the file. On the menu that pops up, select properties. On the properties menu select the compatibility tab. There, check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for. Then select windows XP service pack 3. Also select box for Run this program as administrator. Click apply then ok.

Once you do that. Double click on the installation file and see if it goes through the installation now.

It says Vista is compatible. We can't help you if you're not going to help us; what error codes, what "everything" have you tried?

Vista and Zune is definitely compatible. Its important that your laptop is up to date with the very latest vista software.

I get error code 0x80070005 everytime I try to install Zune. I've tried all that's been suggested, when i click on properties there isn't an XP service pack 3 for me to click on!!! I'm not thick have tried all suggested and spoke to Zune but still nothing works

Did you follow step by step my most recent instructions? I'll search for a youtube videos so you can follow the same instructions but for the zune installation file.

1. On the Zune setup .exe right click and go to properties

2. Click on the compatibility tab, then check "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP SP2

3. Hit apply, then ok and now go back to the opened Zune folder and run the Zunesetup.exe

Maybe we've been trying so hard to get you to run the installer that we forgot to ask the obvious question, did you download the correct installer from Microsoft?
