Can't download podcasts

Using the new podcast app in 8.1 I can not download podcasts, it only lets me stream them. I have changed various settings and it made no difference. Anyone else have this problem?

No problems here. May be a silly question...but have you tried a reboot?

Yep, rebooted and it made no difference

No problem here. Mine is set to download over WiFi though. Also, if you go to the episode list, you can long press an episode and tell it to download.

I tried wifi on and off and it made no difference- no option when you select the podcast and it is grayed out. I wonder if I have to be logged on somewhere to download.

It is alo grayed out

Downloaded the 3rd party podcast! app and everything is fine-can download with no issue. Must be some bug in Microsoft's app.

I have 2 phones (work and personal) both HTC 8x on Verizon, both upgraded to 8.1. One of them seems to download podcasts just fine, the other is stuck at "waiting for wi-fi" and won't download.

Have tried everything shy of factory reset.

I had the same problem, did a ton of research on it, even called nokia/msft support (and was told they don't support 8.1 yet). Finally I ran across a one sentence explanation on some support page that said essentially that one must subscribe to a podcast series to be able to download individual podcasts. Otherwise one can only stream it.
I'm almost certain this I'd different than in 8.0, where you could download a podcast without subscribing to it.
