Can't log in to whatsapp

After doing a phone reset when I install whatsapp and request a confirmation code I get the message 'your code has be requested recently' yet I never get a code so can't activate whatsapp.

I have tried hard resetting, deleting all backups but nothing works

How can I get whatsapp working again?

I get the feeling there's something wrong with Whatsapp as there are several posts already complaining about issues.

Lot of IPhone user's facing this issue as well after the update that was pushed thru for them ...
