Can't Set Custom Text Tone

Hi there, everyone. I just got a Lumia 520 (cricket had a really good sale).
I can set custom ringtones for anyone, but there isn't any way for me to set a custom text tone. I have checked my settings, I have tried going to my contact list and editing. I've tried downloading a tone from an app as well as adding an custom tone from my computer. However no custom menu will show up for text tones.

As far as I know I have the latest updates and everything (I activated the phone yesterday). So, the question I have is: Is this happening to anyone else?

Since you posted in the Ask a Question forum, I can't provide a link to the page (locked down to prevent spammers from posting here)... But I can tell you where to find the information on the Windowsphone.com website.

1. On your computer, go to Windowsphone.com and select How-to from the menu bar at the top.
2. On the How-to page, select Personalization (left column, below the picture).
3. On the Settings + Personalization page, select Ringtones, sounds, and volume from the left column (6th item down).

Notice the note regarding software version below their steps for setting custom ringtones or text tones for a contact.

I apologize if these instructions are too basic. Never knowing how comfortable users are with devices, I try to provide instructions that my mom could follow.

you might also like Nokia Ringtones Maker...downloadable from the store. On your phone go to settings and under messaging open that and you will get the option to change your text notification sound

Actually, this was perfect. I'm new to having a windows phone. And after checking everything, my phone is only running windows 8.0. So I think that my phone just doesn't have the feature right now (which is kinda stupid, but whatever). Thanks again.
