But that didn't fix the problem. Now if you lose network service you can't call or text anyone.

That will only come from an official T-Mobile ROM, not from Microsoft as wifi calling is a T-Mobile specific feature that requires carrier customized ROM.

Don't take what I am about to say as solid facts, because I may just be wrong. If anyone can correct me and provide the solid facts, that would be great.

I see it as this, texting uses the network service provided by your carrier, which is why you need signal bars. Everything else is can be utilized with WiFi as data

T-Mobile offers wifi calling and texting on its phones. No signal bars needed.

I downloaded the 8.1 preview for my Lumia 521 last night and ever since I have not been able to text over wifi. Its essential to me as I dont have cell service in my house.

I tried a reset but that didnt work(was attempting to go back to Black or whatever OS was already there)but that didnt work.

Has anyone found anything that DOES work? Talked with THREE different people at T-Mobile today...NONE of them were any help

I had to complete turn off the WiFi calling feature of TMobile for anything to work. Not just "cellular preferred"......OFF, turn it off completely.

Nothing but problems with it on.
