Can't use flash sometimes

I can't seem to use flash on my HTC 8x
I can though use it while recoding video but not when I want to capture.

Any idea?

Did it just stop working suddenly?
Does it work with a different app?

There is an outside chance that it is a software bug, if the hardware connection between the flash circuit board (flex one) and the main board is damaged then it might be an expensive repair.

If your data is backed up, can do you a hard reset and see if it solves the issue?

This flash icon in red only appears when your battery is low!

The red symbol does appear when the battery is low and stops you using the flash. What's really annoying is that you can't choose to turn the flash back on. You can turn off battery saver, or choose the flash on setting, but it still won't flash. I accept it trying to help me when things are all set to automatic, but if I want to use the flash, let me!
