Charger Whine & Heat

My charger makes an audible whine for the first few seconds after I connect it to the Surface. Goes away unless I disconnect and reconnect.

Also tonight I noticed it was quite hot to the touch while charging.

Anyone else or is this another return in the making?

I haven't heard of this problem before. Both of mine do not do that. If your Surface is perfect except for this issue, I would not return it. Maybe contact MS and see if they can just swap out your charger. Seems overkill to return the whole package.
