Hi Friends,

My Lumia 920 came with Nokia AC-16n charger with rated output of 1A. I read in the phone manual that it can also be charged through AC-50 charger which has an output of 1.3A.
Thinking that the AC-50 will be a fast charger, i bought it. the exact model number is AC-50n.
What i have found is that the new chager actually takes longer to charge than the stock one and i can't figure out why. The stock charger took 1 hr and 30 mins from 20% to 100% but the new one takes longer. Also, with the stock charger, the phone showed 3 days backup remaining after reaching 100% but with the AC-50, it says 2 days and 18 hrs after reaching 100%.
Infact, with a similar usage pattern, the backup is shorter with the new charger than the stock one.
So far i have charged two times with the new charger.

Could this effect be due to battery calibration? That is the only thing i can think of.

Please help.....

Have you tried a 2.1 amp charger for comparison? Theoretically the phone would pull it's max input from a 2.1 amp charger. Also how many tests did you conduct? There are a lot of variables that can affect this.

Hi kb4000,
Thanks for your reply. I haven't tried a 2.1 amp charger. I read somewhere that the phone can have 1.5 amp at max for charging without affecting the battery. I actually want to stick to the official chargers. As i have mentioned earlier, i have charged the phone just 2 times so far with the new charger.

Ok. I would recommend trying it several more times. Your phone could have been using different amounts of power between your tests. Also higher amp chargers won't make the phone use extra power. The phone only pulls what it needs. I have a 2.1 amp car charger and it works awesome with my 928.

Hi kb4000,

Charged my phone again today using the AC-50 charger. Again it took 2 hours to charge. The Stock AC-16 takes just 1.5 hours. While charging i do not use the phone.
I am surprised why a charger with more amps is taking longer to charge.

That's really strange. I have the Lumia 928 which is almost identical to the 925. Mine came with the AC-50. How dead is your phone when you are recharging it? I could see what I get and how it compares.

My battery is usually at 20% when i put the phone on charging. Could it be a faulty charger? though it seems highly unlikely.

Hi kb4000,

Any update on your findings? I have returned the charger but i will be very much interested in buying an official charger that can do the job faster than the stock one.
