Like HitDog402, I come from the world of high-end Androids. and have had 6 since my OG Droid. I understand exactly what HitDog is talking about. The withdrawals from the Google Koolaid are extreme. There were a good 3 or 4 times I was ready to switch back to Android, but forced myself to wait and experience more of the WinWorld. I've had my 822 for almost a month now. My google fevers have subsided. As I learn this new ecosystem, I've now reached the point that my 822 and WIN8P now does everything my Galaxy Nexus and Jellybean 4.22 did. Hold it, I don't have the NOW functionality anymore, but I never used it so never mind.
I found trying to make my 822 walk and talk google was a waste of time. I did find WIN8 apps that half-assed succeeded in allowing me to continue using my google services. I finally bit the bullet and switched over to MS Services for everything. Exchange mail, calendar, skype, etc. That said, I am now as happy with my 822 and my new ecosystem that I was with my google world. I will continue to miss all the functionality provided by Google+ and its native app. But this tight integration between my phone and my laptop running WIN8 is astronomical.
So if I may make a suggestion HitDog, instead of focusing on all of the things you can't do, maybe start learning all of the things you can do. If you're like me, you'll be amazed.
