Chrome browser and Chromecast device on WP8

I've been given a Chromecast device, and could probably get it working with a laptop running Windows 10 but was surprised that I had such trouble installing Chrome browser on Windows 10.
Even more surprised that there seem to be few WP8 apps that support the Chromecast device.
Does anyone have advice / experience with these 2 environments with Chromecast?
