Circle icons for contacts

Hello

I want to say that circle icons for contacts are so ugly.

- They contradicts with overall design of Windows Phone (tiles).
- In my country (Belarus) circle images of persons used on graves of dead persons.

Will it be possible to return back to rectangle icons.

I'm surprised they haven't changed back to squares. I've never heard anyone say they liked them.

I absolutely hate them too, but the worse for me is those same circles on album arts on Groove Music. Never understood why MS came up with these ugly circles...
Anyway, so far it's not possible to change it to squares, unless you go back to WP8.1.

the reasoning is pretty sound, its a distinction, all "people" are circles, and all content is square.

Hate circle icons for people. Forced to remove all pinned contacts from home screen. (before I was proud how my home screen looks like; now it's a shame). We definitely need an option for masking or not masking.

I guess Microsoft thought Windows Phone needed to be more well rounded but only told the design people.

Shrink the tile down if the circle icons bother you that much. I think there are much more important issues (like performance)

i hate that thing: upong ringing i want to see square picture of contact, usually such pictures have a nice background. Now i see truncated face without hair and shoulders.

the reasoning is pretty sound, its a distinction, all "people" are circles, and all content is square.

That would make a little sense in a world where everyone's picture was a dead on straight mugshot with nothing surrounding them but they're not. Profile pictures are usually much more than that and automatically cropping them into a silly circle is just beyond dumb. Google+ level dumb.

boo hoo hoo, my life is over, I'm not going to eat until they are squares again, I know "I'm as shallow as a puddle", but at this moment in time it means so much to me ..... puuuuulease, no more circles
