"Clean" Install - Leftovers

I noticed after I upgraded the S3 to Windows 10, there were a few directories left over - the Windows.old and ~BT and ~WS folders. Right after the upgrade, I went into Recovery and performed a hard Reset - expecting a clean tablet. However, it left the old folders there. I know they changed reset procedures in Windows 10 to reduce drive space requirements, but I don't feel like I got a "clean" reset when I find leftovers after it's done.

I think this may be due to the "revert back to Windows 8.1" that is offered for 1 month - I'm curious of those directories will disappear after the 1 month mark...

You can run the Disk Cleanup utility under administrator and if I recall correctly it will allow you to get rid of those directories.

What you could do it perform another clean Windows 10 install. Before you do that make sure you note down the upgraded Windows 10 key.

I did that actually. Installing the drivers sucked - I wish they had one MSI with all the drivers pre-set instead of installing them one-by-one. The only MSI's they have are for the LTE models, not the base WiFi model.

You shouldn't need the product key as long as you upgrade to Windows 10 first - then wipe the HD and install Windows 10 from scratch. It will then activate on its own.

Unfortunately I had audio problems (static and crashing apps), and battery problems (2-3 hours of life - terrible WiFi usage during sleep) so I reverted back to Windows 8.1. I've read the audio problem can be solved by disabling the audio enhancements, and that recent cumulative updates have helped with battery life.

I still think there is needs to be a new firmware with completely new drivers for WiFi, audio, and graphics.
