Should a link to the Community Rules & Guidelines also be stickied in the Introductions forum?

I think that's a pretty good idea. The only place it's now I think, is stickied post by Dave in the site news, feedback and help forum. I wonder how many people really do go all the way down to the bottom of the page and see that forum.

A ling is available at the bottom for the main forums page. FYI

I will start by saying I hate rules. It is the responsibility of each new member to read the rules when they register. If they break the rules it is our responsibility to enforce the rules in a diplomatic way. We could post the rules in every forum in every way possible they still wouldn't read them. That said posting links to the rules all over the forum makes it look like we have a problem with rule breakers. Assuming that people don't read rules what good would it serve to add a ling in the introductions forum?

It would be in a more visible location for new posters increasing the likelihood that someone (preferably newbies) would read it.

Fact, I have signed up for hundreds of forums, I am sure you have two. I have never read the rules on ay forum I have ever participated in. That is, that I am not a moderator on of course, people just don't read the rules. Guess how many times I have been sighted for breaking rules on forums where I didn't read the rules. Exactly ZERO. The point I am trying to make is the people who break the rules don't care and most want to get in trouble. If they read the rules its just so they know how to get in trouble. The people who don't want to break the rules don't read the rules because they know if they use common sense and post and act the same way they would in a public place, they wont get in trouble.

I am not Trying to dismiss your suggestion Cori I am just trying to explain my thinking here. I have tried the "post the rules everywhere" scenario and still had people telling me they didn't know they couldn't post warz on the forum.

What I have come to realize is this. The rules are there so we have a defined code of conduct. They are there so we have written text to show the rule breakers what they did wrong and how we have proof that we already made these rules available to them before they broke the rule.

When people sing into the forum and register for the first time they are provided a copy of our forum rules and they have to agree to them before they are granted a membership. This should be all we need to do. If a member wants to review the rules the links are available.

I'm planning on writing a guide to go in the introductions forum explaining what people can expect from Windows Phone as a forum and I'll be sure to link to the rules there. I wondered if it'd be a good idea to put a link to the rules and guidelines in the forum information bit you see that James sets. Or on the very top of the front page of the forum.

Either way I think if Mobile Nations are going to put this new system in place where people can ask for responses without registering it'd be critical to link to it there.

I would like to read and approve your guide before it goes public. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are wanting to write here. Just let me see it before it is posted in open forum.

I am in a full on fight with James about the easy answers forum. If I have my way it will never make it to WPC.

I wouldn't post anything like that without showing you first. Glad to hear there's hope.
